Guest readers are welcome to come and read to a class, but must have a current volunteer form and background check on file with your campus office. NTxCA has revised the 2025-2026 calendar to make up required minutes missed during last week's inclement weather.
Thursday, February 12th will be a regular school day; Valentine's Day parties will be held from 2:30-3:30. (This makes up for the early dismissal on January 23rd.)
Monday, April 6th will be a regular school day. (This is our designated bad-weather make-up day.)
As allowed, we will request a waiver from the Texas Education Agency for other missed days.

Good afternoon, NTxCA families. Although the sun today brought warmer temperatures and helped melt a lot of the ice, we know that many side roads and rural areas are still not safe for travel. As much as we want to see our students and get back to normal, we need to give this one more day. All campuses and offices will be closed Thursday January 29.

Our cabin fever is strong and our snacks are all gone. This wintry front lasted way too long! We're tired of ice and ready to go, But the roads aren't quite clear, so Wednesday's a no-go. One more day off won't hurt us, I reckon, Because we LOVE first...and always TEACH second.

Because temperatures are not expected to get above freezing until Tuesday afternoon, we do not believe we can safely ask staff and students to report to school, even with a delayed start. All campuses will be closed Tuesday January 27. We hope you all are staying safe and warm!

Due to the predicted wintry mix moving in Friday, NTxCA will dismiss at 1:00PM to allow all buses and staff time to get home safely ahead of the freeze. Because of the precipitation and below-freezing temperatures through Monday, all campuses will be CLOSED on Monday, January 26th.
Below, please find a link to warming centers and shelters should your family need assistance. We promise to update with our plans for Tuesday as soon as we can.

Like all of you, we're monitoring the weather forecast. We don't foresee any changes to school operations this week but we're watching Friday afternoon closely; while the inclement weather may not arrive by the time school dismisses, we know that our bus routes are lengthy and many of our staff commute 70+ miles each way. We want to make sure all students and staff are safely at-home before the weather rolls in, so we'll keep you posted as we know more about any early release plans.
Additionally, we will announce any delays or closures for Monday as early as possible. Our campus pantries will be open Wednesday 2:00-4:00PM and are well-stocked to provide what NTxCA families may need to make it through a long, cold weekend.
